Wednesday, July 25th, 2012

Noodling on a summer evening The third night of Vacation Bible School was planned to be a “noodle-ish” event —  and in that respect, there were no disappointments. Using the colorful, flexible, foam noodles most often found in swimming pools, the front lawn of the parsonage was turned into a Dr. Seuss-like playground of […]

Vacation Bible School, Part 2

Thursday, July 12th, 2012

Enjoying the best summer has to offer The second of three nights of this year’s Vacation Bible School was held at Fort Williams on July 11 and any scripted plan for the evening was clearly secondary to relaxing, taking in the fellowship of friends and families, and soaking in the magnificence of God’s creation […]

Vacation Bible School, Part 1

Creative interactions This summer’s VBS experiences are loosely based on Peter H. Reynolds’ book “Ish,” in which a young boy learns that thinking “ish-ly” is far more wonderful than “getting it right.” The first night of VBS was June 28 with the theme “Playful-ish.” Carol Hubbard and Rick Fontana opened their Cape Elizabeth home to […]

To conclude its three-night Vacation Bible School, a […]

Searching for God: The Reality God is clearly alive in Cape Elizabeth! It didn’t take much of an effort nor stretch of the imagination to reach that conclusion. After two nights of exploring the beaches, farms, woods, backyards, gathering places, camps and even one’s inner self and each other, search teams from the Cape […]

Searching for God in Cape Elizabeth We talk about it to our family and friends, to each other, and sometimes even to strangers during our walks around this marvelous corner of the country we call home — we are blessed to live by the sea and its magnificient coastline. During this summer’s Vacation Bible School, […]

From broken pieces to beauty (Updated Aug. 16, 2009) Three nights of Vacation Bible School at the Cape Elizabeth United Methodist Church was a time to hear stories about inspirational successes emerging from broken lives — both from the Bible and from daily events in modern times. Lessons learned from those stories and discussions within the […]
